Blue Maidencane, Goobergrass
Scientific name: Amphicarpum muehlenbergianum
Blue maidencane (a.k.a. goobergrass) is a grass that spreads mainly via rhizome and is an excellent forage for ungulates (e.g., deer, cattle). Its native range includes Alachua County. While found in a few other Southeastern states, it is primarily found in Florida. It is recommended for wetlands restoration as it helps with erosion control. While it does want to be wet for part of the year, it does not want to sit in stagnant water. Sometimes it can be found in upland areas. It likes sun but can tolerate light shade.
Size: assorted small pots
